Family Health Care Center is one of only 40 practices in the country to be chosen as part of the national “Go Diabetes” program designed to improve the health and outcomes of people with diabetes.

All of our providers have been awarded the distinction of ‘Master Diabetes Clinicians’ and have achieved NCQA recognition for high-quality diabetes care. Visit https://www.ncqa.org/ for more information.

Our level 2 lab does A1c testing, cholesterol, and urine/kidney screenings, which are important markers for detecting and managing diabetes.

Family Health Care Center is one of Statesboro’s largest practices treating both children and adults with diabetes. Currently, classes have been stopped due to the pandemic.

You may make a 30-minute appointment with one of the nurse practitioners for one on one instruction.

Prompt, knowledgeable, sick care is especially important for diabetic patients. FHCC has an on-site x-ray and lab enabling us to treat serious infections, such as pneumonia, efficiently.

We will always see our diabetic patients the same day for acute problems like the flu. Our physicians have admission privileges for East Georgia Medical Center and follow them upon discharge for more serious medical issues.

Patients with diabetes must take special care of their skin and Family Health Care Center’s providers understand the TLC needed to heal. We do laceration repairs, skin biopsies, mole and lesion removals, as well as complete foot assessments all in-office. Visit our Dermatology page for more info.

We offer supportive care and treat uncomplicated anxiety and depression. Family Health Care Center also collaborates with local psychologists and counseling centers if more intense support is needed to cope with their illness

The providers at Family Health Care Center will teach you how to begin insulin, use diabetes meters as well as managing and beginning insulin pumps when needed. We offer individual self-management appointments and insulin training. FHCC has various types of free glucose monitors on-site and will work with your insurance company to get your supplies quickly, at the most cost-effective pricing.

We also have an office-based CGM (continuous glucose monitor) that will record your blood sugars for 3-5 days to better see your patterns and adjust medications. We will order and set up personnel CGM for qualified patients.
