Infant and Children’s Healthcare

 

 

Women’s Health

FHCC’s physicians and nurse practitioners treat women of all ages for PMS, menopause, menstrual cramps, urinary tract and vaginal infections.  We perform pap smears and provide for all forms of birth control including the Depo “shot” , IUD and other methods.  Our in house lab performs hormone testing, pregnancy testing and urinalysis. FHCC has an on site full body Bone Density Dexa scan to assess women for osteoporosis (thinning of the bones).  This scan is recommended for all women after age 50 and for those younger women taking Depo-Provera shots or other high risk medications.  We can follow abnormal pap smears on-site with colposcopy exams and we do endometrial biopsies on site as well.

 

Men’s Health

Family Health Care Center’s physicians treat prostate problems, simple erectile dysfunction and perform comprehensive physical exams and in office vasectomies.

 

Occupational Health

 

The physicians and nurse practitioners at Family Health Care Center provide for newborn care at East Georgia Medical Center and continue to provide both well baby and illness related care to children of all ages.  We administer immunizations on site, along with hearing, vision screening and sport physicals.  Our providers focus on education of parents and children about safety, healthy diet, exercise and promotion of healthy lifestyles.  We reserve time daily to allow for same day appointments for sick children and have separate waiting rooms to keep healthy infants away from those with illnesses.

 

The providers at Family Health Care Center treat sports injuries with on-site x-ray, physical therapy, joint and trigger point injections.  We treat many forms of arthritis including Rheumatoid Arthritis and degenerative arthritis.  One of our nurse practitioners has specialized training in the care of arthritis from the National Institute of Health, George Washington University and Medical University of S.C..

At Family Health Care Center our board certified family physicians and board certified nurse practitioners are well accustomed in treating occupational injuries. We partner with the employers in the area to provide prompt, expedient care to their employees. From the largest to the smallest employer, our goal remains the same in treating each worker in a professional manner to enable the patient to return to work.

Dermatology

Family Health Care Center’s providers do laceration repairs, skin biopsies, mole and lesion removals.  We treat rashes and acne and are a certified point of care for the Accutane “I pledge” program.

 

Cardiac Care

Our providers treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, peripheral artery disease and work with local specialists in the treatment of heart attacks and strokes.  We work at monitoring  cardiac risk factors and have on-site cardiac treadmill testing, holter monitors, EKG’s, oxygen monitors and cholesterol testing.  Our board certified Physician’s are certified in advance cardiac life support and our clinical staff are certified in basic cardiac life support.  Our on site lab performs finger stick blood tests with immediate results to monitor the use of blood thinners like coumadin.

 

Pulmonary care

Family Health Care Center treats patients with asthma and emphysema utilizing the most up to date guidelines from the National Heart Lung Blood Institute.  We have on site computer assisted pulmonary function testing, pulse oxygen monitors and nebulizers

 

Diabetes Care

Family Health Care Center is one of Statesboro largest practices treating both children and adults with diabetes.  We have a diabetic educator on site and do perform office HgA1c testing, urine kidney screening.  The providers at Family Health Care Center follow the American Diabetes Association’s most up to date guidelines for treatment of all diabetic patients.
